The Words We Use

By Anne Wadsworth

I’ve been wanting this to happen for about three years and now suddenly, we’re here. A new website!!! Why didn’t we re-do our site three years ago?  Ultimately, too time consuming, too many options to choose from and too much money. Apparently, fate meant us to wait because when it all did click into place this time, the team we had assembled dramatically lessened each of these pressure points. Overall, it was not as painful a process as I had been dreading. Yeah!

Just back from Kitenga…

By Anne Wadsworth

It’s a quiet, rainy, Sunday morning – just the welcoming setting I awaited before jotting down some reflections from my recent Kitenga visit.  Trip #22? 23? 24? Somewhere along the line I lost count but have come to realize that in reality, Kitenga, Tanzania has become my “second home”. And as it has happened with…

Getting Stronger by the Day

By Anne Wadsworth

About 43 weeks over the course of 76 months (that’s six years plus change) – that’s the number of days I have spent in Tanzania forming a partnership and building a remarkable school with the Immaculate Heart Sisters of Africa. About 85% of those days were spent chiseling a castle from a rock, shaping a…

What Could Be More Epic?

By Anne Wadsworth

May 24th, 2017 was the Dedication/Inauguration/celebration, of the opening of the Kitenga School For Girls. May 24th was an epic day. Why? For so many reasons: Mother Nature rested her harsh rains; the new campus looked beautiful and the ceremonial tents, like a fairytale castle. The program demonstrated the girls’ passion, devotion and pride in their…

The Dedication of Kitenga School For Girls

By Anne Wadsworth

The day stated around 10:00am with a Mass. A choir from Utegi came to sing and it was very joyful. Around midday the school was officially inaugurated and the ribbon was cut by Sister Bernadette, the school nurse. The priests, sisters and rest of the crowd went through each building to bless the school: science…

By Anne Wadsworth

This International Women’s Day, we implore you to truly think internationally.
